Types of yarn count.

                              Types of yarn count

Types of yarn count:

a) Indirect system- English, Metric, Worsted.
b) Direct system- Tex, Denier, Lbs/Spindle (This term is use for jute).

Direct Count System:

The weight of a fixed length of yarn is determined. The weight per unit length is the yarn count! The common features of aII direct count systems are the length of yarn is fixed and the weight of yarn varies according to its fineness.
The count of yarn expresses the no. of weight units in one length unit. Thus higher the count, coarser the yarn. The system is generally used for synthetic fiber, jute, silk etc.

Indirect count:

The count of yarn expresses the number of length units in one weight unit. Thus higher the count, finer the yarn. The system is generally used for cotton, worsted, linen (wet spun) etc.

The length of a fixed weight of yarn is measured. The length per unit weight is the yarn count. The common features of all indirect count systems are the weight of yarn is fixed and the Length of yarn varies according to its fineness.

Direct count:

TEX is universal clothing system.

The weight of 1000m yarn in gm.
Denier: This system use for synthetic yarn.

The weight of 9000m yarn in gm.

Lb/spindle: The weight of 14400 yard yarn in lb.

Here 1yard = 0.946m.
          1m = 1.0936 yard.

What is the meaning of 12 count jute?
Ans: The weight of 14400 yard jute is 12 lb.

What is the meaning of 120 TEX?
Ans: The weight of 1000m yarn is 120gm.

What is the meaning of 150D?
Ans: The weight of 9000m yarn is 150gm.

120Tex vs 130Tex

Finer          Courser

[Because in Direct count system Length is fixed but weight is not fixed.

TEX        =          Fineness      Courser
TEX                    Courser       Fineness

Indirect Count:The number of length unit in on (per) weight unit.

English cotton count (Ne):
The number of Hanks of 840 yard in one pound.

Metric count (Nm):
The number of Hanks of 1000m in one kilogram.

Worsted count (wool) Nw:
The number of Hanks of 560 yard in 1 lb.

What is the meaning of 10Ne?
Ans: The number of Hanks of 840 yard in one pound I 10.

What is the meaning of 150 Nm?
Ans: The number of HANKS OF 1000m in one KG is 150.

What is the meaning of Wc?
Ans: The number of hnks of 560 yard in one lb is 80.

25Ne      vs   30Ne

Courser       Finer

[Because here weight is constant but number of hanks is not constant.
এখানে হ্যাঙ্ক যতগুলোই হোক না কেন ওজন একই থাকবে।
This point is the main difference between two types of count.]

Difference between Hydrophilic & Hydrophobic fiber?

Difference between Hydrophilic & Hydrophobic fiber: Hydrophilic Hydrophobic The fibers which is absorb water is known as Hydrophobic fibers. The fibers which is not absorb water is known as Hydrophobic fibers. Most of natural fibers are Hydrophilic fiber. Most of man-made fibers are Hydrophilic fiber. These are less sustainable. These are more sustainable. This types of fibers attract moisture of the body. This types of fibers repel moisture of the body. This types of fibers are more comfortable than Hydrophobic fibers. This types of fibers are less comfortable than Hydrophilic fibers. These fibers has low intermolecular force. These fibers has high intermolecular force.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMBED AND CARDED YARNS?

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMBED AND CARDED YARNS: Combing and carding are two ways to prepare the raw fiber for spinning. In order to make yarn, the raw fibers need to be fluffed up and aligned prior to spinning. -Carding creates a slightly fuzzier yarn as not as many of the fibers are aligned. -Combing creates a smoother yarn as the fibers are more aligned. Combing is the more expensive process as you have higher waste involved than with carding.

What is Textile? or Definition of Textile

TEXTILE: A textile was originally a woven fabric but the terms textile and plural textiles are now also applied to fibers, filaments and yarn natural and manufacturing and most products for which these are a principle raw materials. Garments
